A healthy lifestyles social club combining heart health, exercise, healthy eating and cook & eat practical interactive sessions.
This project aimed to improve the health and wellbeing of Deaf or disabled individuals through small changes in their daily lives to learn healthier habits, which contribute towards a better heart health. The project tracked changes through individual measurements, exercise and food diaries.
This was provided with a 10 week healthy lifestyles social club which supports behaviour change through local and national health information, practical activities whilst having fun. All delivered in a safe and friendly environment.
.
Specialist activities were delivered in a weekly social club consisting of:
- Exercise taster sessions
- Cook and eat sessions
- Interactive heart health information
- Activities which promote heart health
We also encouraged the involvement of carers and family members in the project, as this will provide additional support and encouragement of healthy habits to make changes in their daily lives beyond the end of the project.
